Springtime

... is an arbitrary point to start. In reality the farm has an annual cycle, with slower and more intensive periods. Nevertheless, early, early spring, or more accurately late winter, is when we start thinking about the summer crops: first with seed orders, crop planning, then flats of seed trays and small pots started in the greenhouse.

It's a complicated process, with thousands (yes, thousands) of seeds and plants passing through the adept hands of Matt. Some of these will end up on your plate!

Late Spring crops include (left to right): Cutting Celery, two varieties of cabbage and broccoli

JULY

In mid-summer, the Harvest Table farm is at its greenest. Here is pictured, from the foreground: Green Beans, two segments of cover crops (buckwheat, one just germinating, one about 20 inches tall), sweet corn, and summer squash.

Open House

In July we hosted friends and guests at our first garden party and open house. We were pleased to have over 100 people stop by and visit, and learn a bit about our farm. If you wish to schedule a group visit, just let us know.

Some before and After Pictures

Volunteers and friends help plant 450 asparagus spears in mid-April (right) resulting in amazing growth during the summer of 2011 (below). Next spring we can selectively harvest a modest first cutting.
